Overkill announced on their website all PAYDAY 2 DLC would be removed from the store and replaced with a $45 ‘Ultimate Edition’. They also announced all future content updates would become free. This comes as a radical change for overkill that released a huge amount of DLC that would cost around $200 to buy them all at full price. Overkill stated this change to their business model was to “Try something new” and “say thank you to all our current players”.

At the same time Overkill announced they will be giving 5 million copies away for free on steam with the only requirement to obtain one being to go on the steam page and click the button.
